🔥 Suspected Gas Leak?
A gas leak can be extremely dangerous. If you smell gas or suspect there may be a leak, act immediately.
Your safety is the priority. Follow the steps below and do not ignore the smell of gas.
Step 1 – Open Doors and Windows
If it is safe to do so:
- Open doors and windows to help ventilate the property.
- Keep the area well ventilated.
- Leave windows open until advised otherwise.
Step 2 – Do NOT Create Sparks
Do NOT:
- Switch lights on or off.
- Use electrical sockets or plugs.
- Operate electrical appliances.
- Smoke or use naked flames.
- Light matches or candles.
- Use lighters.
Even a small spark could ignite leaking gas.
Step 3 – Turn Off the Gas Supply (If Safe)
If you know where the emergency gas control valve is and it is safe to access, turn off the gas supply.
Do not attempt this if it would place you at risk.
Step 4 – Leave the Property
If the smell of gas is strong or you believe there is an immediate danger:
- Leave the property immediately.
- Ensure everyone else leaves.
- Move to a safe distance.
- Do not re-enter until you have been told it is safe.

Symptoms of Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
Gas appliances that are faulty may produce carbon monoxide, which cannot be seen, smelled or tasted.
